Throughly Washed

"Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin." Psalm 51:2 KJV

"For I acknowledge my transgressions; and my sin is ever before me." Psalm 51:3 KJV

This Psalm was penned by King David. The Prophet Nathan had come to him with a message from God. David had committed two great sins, adultery and murder to cover up his sin. David made a plea to God to wash him throughly from these sins. It was ever before him. I see here the honesty of a sinner before God. When God brings conviction of sin to a person, it causes us to acknowledge our sin. Our sin is ever before us, it is plainly in our view. When we sleep, we dream of our sin. When we are awake, our sin is before us still. Day and night we are tormented by our sin. Have you ever been broken because of your sin nature? You must be broken before you can be made clean. I remember the days when God's spirit visited me and brought my sin ever before me. It was a terrible time, but also a glorious time. It was then I looked to Him who could wash me throughly from my sin. When I repented and placed my faith in Jesus Christ, I was immediately washed throughly from my sin. Sin makes us dirty inside, but the blood of Calvary's Lamb can wash you white as snow. David went to the only place he could be washed, Jesus Christ. If your sin is before you, come to the Fountain and be washed from your sin.

"There is a Fountain"

There is a fountain filled with blood
Drawn from Immanuel's veins,
And sinners plunged beneath that flood
Lose all their guilty stains.
The dying thief rejoiced to see
That fountain in his day,
And there may I, though vile as he,
Wash all my sins away.
